IMPORTANT NOTICE about PROTECTION of your PERSONAL INFORMATION.
The POPI Act is about the protection of your personal information and indicates how the information may be collected, used and shared. We at Ethico Brokers (PTY) Ltd take the Act very seriously and have implemented it’s principles into our business.
To enable continuous compliance, we have been doing the necessary due diligence by prioritising compliance with the act and will continue to do so until, and beyond July 2021.
Ethico Brokers (PTY) Ltd further undertakes that the information obtained will only be shared with third parties like regulators, our licensed software providers, and the Institutions or Suppliers Companies we refer you to as part of services we offer. Some of this information may be transferred cross border(s) as well. For example, where we use cloud services to store data or if one of the services providers that we will use to provide services to you is located overseas.
We further undertake that your consent is only limited to the above and we will not send you unnecessary communications that you did not agree to. Ethico Brokers (PTY) Ltd has strict regulatory obligations imposed upon it in respect of client confidentiality and timeframes for storing client information. Please be assured that we are not going to spamming you with junk emails, adverts, or calls, neither are we going to be selling your contact details to unrelated parties.
As an existing client you would already be aware of the kind of information that can be requested/ collected. From time to time, we may collect the information which includes, but is not limited to:
• information relating to the criminal, financial status, occupation, and insurance/claims history of the person/s and other persons covered under this policy.
• any identifying number, email address, physical address, telephone numbers, location information, online identifier, vehicle registration numbers or other assignment to the person.
• Your bank details for debit order purposes or for claims payments.
• the personal experiences, opinions, views, or preferences of the person pertaining to the services Ethico Brokers may need to provide you with.
• correspondence sent by the person that is implicitly or explicitly of a private or confidential nature.
• the name of the person if it appears with other personal information relating to the person or if the disclosure of the name itself would reveal information about the person.
• information relating to the gender, marital status, citizenship, disability, age, ID number and/or date of birth of the person.
• personal information concerning any additional persons who may be members of the household.
How will we obtain and process the information?
• We will usually obtain information from you directly via different means but may from time to time also obtain publicly available information.
• Your information may be processed by third parties like regulators, our software and system providers , or other suppliers such as insurers/underwriters, loss adjusters, surveyors and assessors and to ensure you get great service and may be transferred cross border, for instance where we use cloud services to store data or if one of our own service providers are situated overseas.
Your rights
Kindly note that you have the right to contact Ethico Brokers (PTY) Ltd to enquire about your information that we hold on record, you further have the right to correct the information as stored or alternatively request Ethico Brokers (PTY) Ltd to delete the information, and that Ethico Brokers (PTY) Ltd will delete the information except if it is prohibited in terms of legislation. You further have the right to revoke consent, however, if you do then we will no longer be able to offer you, our services.
